Ramotswa, Botswana – His Excellency, President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko, continued his nationwide community engagements with a well-attended public meeting in Ramotswa on Tuesday morning. The President used the platform to directly engage with residents and share updates on key national developments, particularly the Bonno National Housing Plan.

In his address, President Boko commended the Minister of Water and Human Settlement, Hon. Onneetse Ramogapi, for successfully launching the Bonno National Housing Programme. He described the initiative as a bold and necessary step towards ensuring that every Motswana has access to affordable and decent housing.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the ambitious target of constructing 100,000 houses across the country, emphasizing that the target will be met per constituency. He assured the community that this major milestone will be achieved within the first three years of his administration, a move that has been widely welcomed as both visionary and pragmatic.

President Boko further encouraged the Balete community to actively participate in the initiative, not only as future homeowners but also as contractors and service providers, thereby contributing to both the social and economic upliftment of the region.

In his remarks of appreciation, the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Boniface Mabeo, praised the President’s drive toward a more inclusive and developed Botswana. While expressing gratitude for the visit and ongoing initiatives, Hon. Mabeo also raised a concern that Ramotswa and the surrounding areas have sometimes been overlooked in past Government programmes.

He urged the President to ensure that Balete is fully included and benefits equitably from all national development efforts.
The engagement concluded with a renewed sense of hope and determination among attendees, as the President reaffirmed his vision of a more equitable, inclusive, and prosperous Botswana.

Tlokweng, Botswana – The President of the Republic of Botswana, Advocate Duma Gideon Boko, addressed the Batlokwa community on Tuesday afternoon during a Kgotla meeting, where he outlined the government’s bold and transformative National Housing Initiative. The initiative aims to construct 100,000 houses across the country over a two-year period, with each constituency set to receive 1,000 houses.

President Boko emphasized that this ambitious housing project is not merely about infrastructure but represents a pivotal step in the government's broader social development agenda. He highlighted that the initiative is designed to create jobs and alleviate poverty by ensuring every citizen has access to a decent and dignified home.

“This program is more than bricks and mortar—it’s about dignity, economic empowerment, and community upliftment. We are building the future of Botswana,” said President Boko. He further extended an invitation to all qualified individuals and companies to submit expressions of interest to participate in the construction efforts, encouraging inclusive participation from citizens with the requisite skills.

Welcoming the President and dignitaries to the gathering, Kgosi Puso Gaborone of Batlokwa expressed appreciation for the initiative and affirmed the community’s readiness to take part in national development. However, he raised a critical concern regarding land scarcity in his jurisdiction, noting that “most of the land is occupied by farmers.” Kgosi Gaborone highlighted the need for careful consideration of local dynamics as the Bonno National Housing Program is rolled out.

Despite the challenges, Kgosi Gaborone reiterated his tribe’s commitment to development, pointing out recent strides made through the use of constituency development funds, including the successful establishment of a recreational facility.
