The Ghanzi District Agricultural Show Committee Chairperson, Mr. Thuto Tshweneyagae has entreated entities participating at the just ended agricultural show event to always prepare adequately for exhibitions and interactions with the public.

Speaking at the awards and prize giving ceremony for the show event, Tshweneyagae asked exhibitors to always allow themselves sufficient time for preparation before the start of the show. “We should always use the Sundays before the event for offloading our exhibition materials and make sure to use the next two days for full flight setup.” He said.
The Chairperson says such adequate preparation is necessary for to lure the public to the stalls and also allow for the observation of commercial days running from Thursday to Saturday.
This year’s agricultural piece has been hailed as a success and did attract a huge number of participants from the private sector, retailers, farmers, government departments and parastatals.

The Botswana Housing Corporation participated in this year’s event with a specific focus on the new government housing initiatives, a continuation from last year.
The parastatals category saw BHC vying for honors and prominence against fifteen other like entities amongst them Water Utilities, Botswana Power Corporation, HRDC, CEDA, LEA, BURS and Botswana Post.

This category honors were scooped by BHC at position 1, followed by Botswana Post and BPC respectively. The BHC exhibition stall was such an attraction and hit with both the public and exhibitors resulting in the stall being granted the ‘grand champ’ honors.
“In fact, we had thought you guys were introducing some alternative building technologies,” said Peter Kapurua who shyly requested that BHC should donate the stall to a deserving charity in Ghanzi after the show.

In the private sector category, the results were as follows: Debswana got position 1, followed by First National Bank and Techno Vit at position 3.
The government category position 1 was retained by Botswana Prisons who have kept the status for the past two or three years. At position two was Ghanzi Land Board followed by the Department of Cooperatives.

The day also got spiced up with a horse-racing event which saw Botswana dominate the only country in the competition, Namibia. The show closed with a football match between a premier league outfit, Sankoyo Bush Bucks and a select side from Ghanzi.
The game ended 2-1, in favor of the Ghanzi Select Team.
