The Botswana Housing Corporation this past weekend successfully hosted the 1st Quarter live Draw (2015) for the on-going Sitting Tenants Campaign at Mahalapye, Watershed Piazza Mall.

The draw, together with the activation was intended to encourage 141 Botswana Railways employees and other sitting tenants who are renting BHC property in Mahalapye to buy their currently leased BHC houses. The first quarter draw prizes of P5, 000 and P 10, 000 went to Tshepang Mokane and Neo Barati Modise respectively, both from Selibe Phikwe while other customers walked away with prizes such as travel bags and other branded BHC merchandise.

The Corporation was joined by financial institutions to further sensitize tenants about the importance of homeownership. Customers had the opportunity to meet with various local financial institutions, which had partnered with the Corporation through provision of financial aid to tenants willing to purchase their rented houses.

Addressing the staff after the draw, the BHC DCEO (Operations) Mr Nkaelang Matenge expressed his gratitude to the staff for the job well.  He pointed out that in the last year the Sitting Tenants Campaign did well. Mr Matenge also alluded that effective research needs to be done to find out what people really want so that BHC products can be recognised.

“Research need to be given prominence so that our products can be recognised and it’s important that we improve our numbers where our target is closer to the market,” Matenge said.  Prior to the event the Marketing and Research spent three days in Mahalapye doing a demand survey for the 50 houses which are about to be built in the area.
