In 2012 the Corporation’s mandate was expanded and a directive that pronounced that all Government housing implementation programmes to be moved transferred to BHC to operate as a Single Housing Authority (SiHA) was also issued. Since then the Corporation has heeded the Government’s call to deliver housing for various Ministries, Departments and Local Authorities, the latest being the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, which received a total on four houses in Machaneng.

The project which was built at a total cost of P3.7 Million was awarded to Tachizhou (Pty) Ltd a local contractor who started construction works last year in May. When handing over the project to the Corporation, Mr Tanken Modie from Tachizhou (Pty) Ltd appreciated BHC for awarding the contract to their company adding that it was their first big project. “Before this particular project we mainly did maintenance and sub-contractor projects, we therefore want to thank BHC for this opportunity as well as thank the community of Machaneng for their support while working on this project,” said Mr Modie.

“We are very delighted to have engaged BHC to manage this project on our behalf as we have for a while been planning to build houses and today here we are receiving complete houses from the Corporation and for that we are really grateful,” said Mr Molemisi Kedumetse (OAG) of the Ministry Of Finance and Development Planning. He commended the contractor for a job well done and in particular for completing the project on time adding that this should be an example to other Batswana owned companies.

When delivering a vote of thanks, Mr Urban Ferguson BHC Manager - External Projects thanked the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development for giving BHC the opportunity to demonstrate to Batswana that the Corporation is indeed the choice provider of housing solutions in Botswana. The houses will be allocated to employees of the Ministry in the area.
